EVERY MOMENT……….

“LIFE always give us exactly the teacher we need at every moment.

This includes every mosquito, every misfortune, every red light, every traffic jam, every obnoxious supervisor (or employee), every illness, every loss, every moment of joy or depression, every addiction, every piece of garbage, every breath.

Something occurred to me as I was sitting in traffic this morning on the longest commute in the city of ABUJA

The destination is always there. It never falters just because we do. We can’t always see it clearly. Sometimes it’s concealed by traffic or detours or fog or roadblocks or road construction or “almost lovers” or failed friendships or alarm clocks that forgot to go off or jobs we work but hate or broken dreams or broken hearts or tears that can’t seem to stop falling…but it’s still there, ever faithful, beckoning us to keep going, don’t stop, don’t give up. The thing is: Obstacles aren’t there to impede you from getting to your destination; they’re there to prepare you for it. Every moment of the waiting is preparing you for what you’re waiting for. Every person who breaks your heart is preparing you to for the one who never will. And every challenge, detour, obstacle, and adversity you face down and overcome is molding you, polishing you, turning you into the person you’re meant to be. Just because I couldn’t SEE my front this morning for all the traffic doesn’t mean it went anywhere. And I didn’t stray from my course simply because the going got a little rough – I pressed on, knowing that I might not get there as quickly as I wanted, but I WOULD get there. My vision might have been blocked…but my destiny was not.

Allow Life and God and Fate to work out the kinks in you. Start celebrating the fact that your destiny is SO big, it’s going to take awhile to prepare you for it. If you had a big, exciting date with the person of your dreams, you wouldn’t rush the preparations, would you? You would take your time and get every little thing right. Shouldn’t a date with destiny require the same amount of time and attention?…………..PepeRémpe…….peace

STOP THE SKINGON……………..

Don’t you love Lola maja, Modupe Ozolua, and other celebs with good skin as they catwalk into an award show or an event.
Their skin always looks fabulous and they always look so flawless and beautiful. Don’t get me wrong there are also dark skinned beautiful ladies like Genevieve,Jackie appiah,
Joke Silva who rock their beauty anywhere u see them but these days our teens want to be as beautiful as most light skinned celebrity.

Go to a common market place and you will observe that more than fifty percent of women including both young and old have traces of a patchy de-pigmentation on the palm, shoulder, foot and fingers, sunburn both on the neck or cheeks, obviously green and red veins in the arms and legs, prominence of stretch marks on thighs, chest and arms and those that are above forty already look stressed, worn out, and prematurely aged.
In most cases, some women out of ignorance die as a result of liver-damage, kidney failure, mercury poisoning and skin cancer. While others who have realized the consequences at a later age will spend their life savings on the correction of their skin and the continuous use of sunscreen. Why then do we have to use harmful chemical substance toxic properties on our skin just to boost self-esteem all in the name of bleaching?

The purpose of skin bleaching is to make the skin whiter by reducing the production of melanin in the skin. Melanin is the reason why Africans are called ‘dark’, ‘brown’, ‘black’, or ‘ebony’ because it determines how dark a person is. It also protects from the ultra-violet rays of the sun which is very harmful to the health. That’s why you see a white man trying to protect himself from the sun by using sunscreen or staying away from the sun; because they have lesser production of melanin in their skin as compared to blacks.
Hydroquoine, mercury, arsenic, alpha-hydroxyl acids are all harmful elements found in bleaching products. Mercury, a very toxic substance is found in the production of hair dyes, manufacture of rubber, and photo-processing. All these are used on the skin just to make you beautiful and boost self esteem. Majority of women including younger ladies and also few men use bleaching cream.

There are cases of mothers using it on their toddlers to make them look attractive and beautiful to carry by every Tom, Dick and Harry.
I will tell you, the uses  of these elements makes the skin loose its elasticity and firmness to heal quickly when an accident or cut occurs. As African, we have to know that there is no hope of getting rid of melanin permanently. NAFDAC only permits 2% of Hydroquoine in any whitening imported beauty products.
There are also locally made beauty soaps like d ‘ose aganyin’ who mix different mixtures of products which includes hair shampoo, MF3, Dope. Several ‘made in china’ get fair fast action in a week or three days can be found in most markets with pictures of white or asian ladies and adverts that you will look similar to the pictures in a couple of days or weeks.
A smart skin care no matter your skin tone and texture of your body should include cleansing, moisturising and maintaining a healthy lifestyle especially a healthy balanced diet. Occasional tonining of the skin is necessary for fair skinned ladies who are exposed to the sun while it is not necessary for dark or chocolate skin ladies.
Government agencies controlling the importation of these products should ensure that this country should not be a dumping ground for toxic and harmful chemical products on human lives. There should be a method of public awareness to women of a certain age group on the implication of using toxic products harmful to their health.
Being black is beautiful cos it symbolizes being ‘endowed, blessed and tough’. Our dark skin can adapt to any weather no matter how harsh, hot or cold. Don’t use harmful chemicals to look good and indirectly poison your body. You are beautiful, so be proud of who you are and your heritage, don’t skingbon again, am sure you are wondering what the hell is that, that’s the name my friends ” Tinuke & Lara” call it, when they see people using bleaching cream. Stop the Skingbon! Save your life………………..pepeRempe………peace

Lifting me when I fall.

On your birthday, Mom,

How you always serve her two portion of meal While you serve me just one
And how you ever ready to
Settle quarrels between her and her mum
(Your beloved younger sister) and the oyesola’s

Vintage eyes, you say?

I am Abimarvel.

We all like to experiment with eye lashes and have fun with the added volume from time to time, I even have friends of mine who wear two pairs on a daily basis, it’s all about prefernce really, but the question is how do you decide which ones to use and if you’ve found a brand you love do you carry on using them or do you keep things fun and try new brands from time to time, because let’s face it, your favourite brand is only that, until you find the next!

So I quite suddenley came across The Vintage Cosmetic company, as I do with most things and fell instantly in love with the packaging; it’s overly pretty, and charming which I can totally appreciate!
I had a little fun with the lashes, in the not so typical way perhaps but nonetheless they are great and definitely a brand…

EVERY LITTLE THING IS GONNA BE ALRIGHT………..

If you know you have to wait anyway, why not make a decision to enjoy your life while you’re waiting? Why not be happy while God is in the process of changing things? After all, there’s nothing we can really do to make it happen any faster. We might as well relax and enjoy our lives, knowing that at the appointed time God is going to bring his plan to pass.
“You can’t control everything. Sometimes you just need to relax and have faith that things will work out. Let go a little and just let life happen.”

“Tension is who you think you should be. Relaxation is who you are.” ~Chinese Proverb

“Don’t worry about a thing. Every little thing is gonna be alright.” ~Bob Marley

The other night, I was relaxing (or so I thought!) in my bed watching a movie when I suddenly became aware of my posture. Though it was late, quiet and peaceful in my little apartment, with no deadlines or stressors pressing down on me…my shoulders were hunched up in a tight ball of tension and my abs clenched like I was poised for battle. When I had this moment of clarity and really paid attention to what my body was telling me…it truly surprised me. I think most of us go through life on auto-pilot (myself included) and we don’t ever really stop to see what our bodies are telling us. Mine was telling me, quite simply: PepeRempe,  you don’t know how to relax. Since that night, I have begun to do little check-ins with myself throughout the day.
So what has us all on edge? It seems as a society, we go through life, holding our breath, waiting for the other shoe to drop. Anxiety is at  all-time high, with the threats of terror alerts and unemployment rates and soaring gas prices and deadlines and obligations and traffic jams. We spend so much time trying to put out fires, we never have a chance to simply relax in front of them. But what can we do about it? Isn’t that “just life”?
In a word, NO. Being a constant bundle of nerves and tension and anxiety is not “just life.” It’s waiting to live…living in fear…planning to live…it’s not actually LIVING. That’s why I chose all of these wonderful quotes today, to remind you AND myself that it’s okay to just LET GO. To relax into life. To float and let life carry you. If you were swimming, you wouldn’t grasp on to the water as tightly as possible to stay afloat, would you? No, you would let go and relax into the pool ‘s waves. So why do we find this so hard to do in life? Pay attention, even now, to how you’re sitting at your computer or phone reading this. Are your shoulders bunched up and tight? Is your neck stiff? Are your abs clenched, like you’re waiting to go to battle? Then stop. Breathe. Exhale. Relax. Let go. Stop holding your breath…and allow Life to take your breath away. You CAN surrender. Every little thing really IS gonna be alright…………pepeRempe………..peace

A JOURNEY ISN’T ALWAYS ABOUT A DESTINATION

“We are travelers on a cosmic journey, stardust, swirling and dancing in the whirlpools of infinity. Life is eternal. We have stopped for a moment to encounter each other, to meet, to love, to share. This is a precious moment. It is a little parenthesis in eternity.

As for me i live on a whirlwind trip which is truly a full circle moment for me. My group of wonderful, hilarious, colorful, fiercely loyal and endlessly friends

This new month I celebrate new beginning, I celebrate life. I celebrate family. I celebrate love. I celebrate friendship. I celebrate childhood dreams, wishes on stars and magical moments that can only happen when you’re willing to stop for a moment and stop pursuing the dream long enough to remember what inspired you to chase it in the first place. I urge you to do something silly, and nonsensical, and frivolous, too. Something that might make other people look at you and shake their head disapprovingly. Why? Because those are usually the moments that wind up on your wall in a frame as some of the best moments of your life………….pepeRempe …………..peace
